Ways you can help

There are many ways in which you can help the Lord's Pantry.  Look below to see ways you can participate in one or more of our programs!  We encourage you to spread the word through your church, civic group or place of employment.

Monetary Donations:

The Lord's Pantry happily accepts cash and/or checks to help us purchase needed food supplies for our clients.  Checks should be made payable to: Lord's Pantry, 141 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335.  We also accept Grocery Store Gift Cards.  We use these to take advantage of special store sales.

You can also give electronically by clicking on the "Just Give" logo below.  JustGive makes it quick and convenient to use your credit card to donate.  Click on the "JustGive" link below to donate now.

Food Drives and Collections:

We distribute over 10,000 pounds of food per week, so food drives are vital.  You can hold a food drive in your neighborhood, school, small group, place of employment, health club, girl/boy scouts, etc. We welcome all unexpired, non-perishable food donations at all times of the year. Please drop off your donations during our hours of operation. Go to our "Information and Resources" page to print out an information brochure, food item checklist for shopping and/or a Thanksgiving Food Item Checklist.

If you cannot make it during these times, Lionville Car Care will accept donations on our behalf.  They are conveniently located at 181 Eagleview Blvd in Exton, next to Papa John's and across from Target. You may drop off your unexpired, non-perishable donations during their open hours Mon - Fri 7 - 6, and Sat 8 - 4.

          Diaper Drives

Diapers, baby wipes and baby shampoos are always needed, as they are expensive items.  Many of our clients receive WIC, which covers formula but not diapers or wipes.

Toiletry Drives

Shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, feminine products, Depends, aftershave, deodorant, soap, etc. which are not covered by food stamps.

Birthday Baskets

Put together birthday baskets with cake mix, icing, candles, birthday plates, napkins etc.

Collection Baskets

If you own a business or know someone who owns a business who would be willing to have our coin collection box on the counter, please let us know.

Support Healthy Food Choice Program:

Our Healthy Food Choice program began in 2010 with a small grant.  Clients receive milk, eggs, fruit, vegetables and two healthy meat choices each month.  You can give directly to this program by writing a check and designating "Healthy Food Choice" in the memo section.

Special Distributions:

See our special distributions page to find out the special programs we have throughout the year for our clients.

Fund Raising

There are many ways to raise funds.  Some examples are: hosting a home party or having a yard sale and donating the proceeds; having office staff "pay" for the "privilege" of a dress-down day; or donating a percentage of the admission from an event such as a concert.  The possibilities are only limited by your imagination!

Employer Support

If you would be willing to approach your employer about supporting the Pantry or finding out the process by which we would apply for support, please let us know.

Restaurant Nights

Please email us if you would be willing to contact local restaurants about holding Lord's Pantry Nights (where a percentage of purchases goes to the pantry).

Reusable Grocery Bags

We are always accepting and in need of "earth friendly" reusable shopping bags like the ones sold for $1 in most grocery stores.  Our clients receive 5 each and must reuse them when they shop.  This has drastically reduced the amount of paper and plastic bags we have to collect.  It's good for the environment and much easier for our clients to carry their groceries since many of them walk.
Refer those in need (must live in the Downingtown, Exton, Lionville area).
